Although the code is written in Fortran, the essentials of this book will appeal to any programmer that is required to manipulate basic geometric shapes in two and three dimensions. The authors gently provide the mathematical fundamentals needed to understand the structure of the two-dimensional geometric objects points, lines, line segments, circles, arcs and planes. There is also a chapter on the volumes of three-dimensional objects such as tetrahedrons, spheres, cylinders and cones.
The formulas that describe the objects, the computation of their size, determining the points of intersection, and how to use matrices to transform them are all covered. A final chapter deals with the fundamentals of how to draw the simple objects.
If you are a programmer with weak skills in basic geometry and need to know how to programmatically manipulate basic shapes, then you will find great value in this book.

The work falls in the area of computer graphics. People have to write code to draw geometrical shapes and do assoicate calculations. The book guides the reader in development such code in a systematc way. The code is developed is in such a way that there is a gradual development. The code can be made part of other programs. It deals with lines, circles and tangents, arcs, intersection of arcs, areas, lines and planes, volumes and forms of computation like that of centre of gravity of a cone. The last chapter deals with pixel based drawing. The material presented with lot of figures and formulae. It is a excellent book for introduction of computer concepts.
