Product Description
Sexual images saturate today's culture. Because children are being introduced to these images even before they can read, parents need a resource to help them talk to their kids about sex. Unlike any other book on the market, Questions Kids Ask about Sex offers a biblical and comprehensive approach to sexuality. Melissa R. Cox, cocreator of the best-selling Focus on the Family Complete Book of Baby and Child Care, has collaborated with The Medical Institute for Sexual Health to deliver age-appropriate, thoughtful responses to the most flabbergasting questions kids ask about sexual identity, issues, and practices. Tested by educators, physicians, and parents across the country, this resource also offers helpful sidebars, straightforward advice, and empowering affirmation. This is the ideal guide to developing the open, respectful, and effective conversation kids need-and want.

Biased and potentially damaging

As a medical professional I see patients that have issues dealing with their parents about these topics. This book would often help aleinate a child from their parents if the child did not directly agree with the books teachings. For example, if a child came out to his or her parents, it recommends writing a letter saying how you disapprove and want them to change to strait. I don't know how many homosexuals the authors have actually met, but that would be one of the most damaging responses possible to a relationship with the young adult.

I would recommend to find a book without an extreme biased. LOOK ELSEWHERE

This book has incredible research and a very up to date commentary for what Kids do want to know. I have watched 4 kids as a regular Nani and have enjoyed the answers in this book as a great companion. I also had the pleasure of meeting the Author and having her sign a book, I must say that she has a personal character that emits true dedication to her family, kids and work. She is truly gifted in her personable persona and I was very impressed with her genuine countenance. I completely disagree with the Hoddie H review, because this book holds a plethora of new research and an Author of stellar personality!

I bought this book after I had my 3rd child and my 7 year old was asking questions about how the baby got in my tummy and how the baby came out. This book was wonderful in helping me to know how to answer those questions to my 7 year old. This book has great ideas and advice on how to speak with your children about everything to do with sex. I love this book! It tells you how to talk with your kids ranging in age from preschool to adulthood! It's the best book I've found out there on answering kids questions about sex.

Everything I've Heard Before...

This book was good, but I have to say it wasn't anything I haven't read before. As a parent, the way I see it is that if you have morals, and are a good example to your children then it should be that difficult to reflect onto them the same values. If your relationship with your kids is lacking, then nothing you can say on these topics can help. First, you have to build a loving, respectful relationship with your child, and to be a great role model.
If you already are in a good relationship, then I don't see a need for this book. You can pull up info on STDs and statistics on millions of websites. So, while this book is an educating read for a parent who's unable to do these simple sex-explaining tasks on their own, I feel like this isn't necessarily the place to start. I guess what I'm saying is, those who could use this book won't be able to gain anything from it WITH their child because they're already lacking and need to repair other areas first.

I've also met the author, who has young children and I doubt has tackled these issues with her own kids yet. Although she seems very self-absorbed with herself, it causes me to wonder about the motives of writing such a book.

But if you're lost with your kids and don't know where to start, give it a chance. But honestly, I think your money would be better invested in counseling with your child. Books aren't the answer. Spending time with your child is.

Great Job!

The book was very educational. I found the book to be reader friednly. As a mother to a pre-pubertal son, these issues are sensitive. This book taught me to let the child ask questions then address issues (being careful not to give to much information). Thanks for such an informative book!
