Excellent Readers! Concise Phonics Based

I have used this for my son. He is very interested in the stories and had an easy time reading the books. My local public school was so impressed with Sonlights books, they asked for a copy.

There are better early phonics readers

I homeschool my 5-year-old daughter. While we love Sonlight homeschool curriculum, we dislike the "I Can Read It!" books. The stories seem very forced, so they aren't fun for my daughter or me to read. There are lots of good children's books that introduce children to reading easy words, but with interesting story lines, so we have decided to use those instead. Some of the odd words caused frustration for both of us. This is the first paragraph on page 20 that finally caused me to give up on this book: "As the cab laps Val, his fan taps! His fan taps and he can not pass!" Instead, I like the BOB Books series or Dr. Seuss books such as "Hop on Pop."
